Ruhrgames 2025
2025 was a one-off for the Ruhrgames: folded into the Rhine-Ruhr FISU World University Games and moved from its usual competitive format at Zollverein into a four-day festival at Bochum's Jahrhunderthalle, trading medal events for demo sports like BMX Flatland and Spineramp. We built the visual system that had to carry that shift, still recognisably the Ruhrgames, now built for a festival crowd instead of a scoreboard.
A wonderslide of a title sequence tumbles basketballs, skateboards and confetti through a candy-coloured tube, and a set of stage visuals turns each discipline into kinetic type: Musik, Sport, Kultur and Urban Dance spin out as 3D ribbon lettering, twisting into infinity loops bold enough to read from the back of an arena.
It's built to guide a crowd through four unscored days rather than a tournament bracket, so the same shapes and colours repeat until they become the festival's own shorthand.
